Announcing the Winners of Xogot Jam 3

Xogot Jam 3 invited developers to build games around the theme Wrapped, and the results were creative, playful, and full of personality. We loved seeing the different ways developers interpreted the theme and the wide range of ideas they brought to building games with Xogot.

Xogot Jam 3 Highlights

Thank you to everyone who took part, experimented with ideas, and shared your work with us. And thanks for bearing with us while we wrapped up Xogot Jam 3.

Overall Winner: THROUGH

by Dave Herr and team
Play THROUGH on itch.io

THROUGH stood out as a game that feels deeply rooted in the spirit of Xogot. It is unapologetically mobile-first, requiring multitouch and playing best on an iPad, especially with friends gathered around the same screen. Rather than treating mobile as an afterthought, the team leaned into it fully and created something that simply is not the same experience on desktop.

THROUGH

Even more exciting is how the project was made:

100% of the game’s development occurred on iPad and Xogot. We used Procreate to make all the sprites, GarageBand for music, Bfxr for sound effects, and Carnets to tweak some of the HTML in the exported game.

That workflow captures exactly the kind of creative, device-native experimentation we love to see with Xogot. Congratulations to Dave Herr and team on taking the top spot.

Best Use of Theme: Under Wraps

by Callum Jackson
Play Under Wraps on itch.io

Under Wraps delivered a clear and humorous interpretation of the theme. You play as a vengeful mummy defending a sacred tomb from an archaeologist, using mystical bandages to literally wrap up the intruder before he escapes.

Under Wraps

It is a smart, direct use of the theme, and the concept comes through immediately in both gameplay and presentation. The game is fast-paced, memorable, and strongly centered on the idea of being wrapped, securing it first place in Best Use of Theme.

Best Presentation: Xogotl - The Pond

by René Ruppert
Play Xogotl - The Pond on itch.io

Xogotl - The Pond wins Best Presentation for its charming world, polished gameplay feel, and strong overall execution. The premise is delightful: a hungry little Xogotl explores a pond in search of food while avoiding dangerous eels that can temporarily cost it a limb.

Xogotl - The Pond

The game has a strong visual identity and a playful tone, and the tap-to-move controls work naturally on touch devices. It is a polished and thoughtful entry that feels cohesive from start to finish.

René also made the project available under the MIT license, which is a generous contribution to the broader community:

Creativity & Design Award: Wrap-Athon

by Joseph Smithberger
Play Wrap-Athon on itch.io

Wrap-Athon takes the Creativity & Design Award for taking the theme in a surprising and absurd direction. It is a silly party game about unwrapping gifts as quickly as possible, complete with selfie-based face capture and wiggly stickman energy.

Wrap-Athon

The concept is funny, memorable, and immediately social. Its playful presentation and unusual blend of humor, party-game mechanics, and personalization helped it stand out as one of the jam’s most inventive entries.

Honorable Mention: Controls & Time Unwrap

by Axenntio
Play Controls & Time Unwrap on itch.io

Controls & Time Unwrap is a clever puzzler built around an unwrap time mechanic. While it only includes a few levels, it quickly ramps up the challenge and delivers a satisfying gameplay loop. It also plays well on both desktop and mobile, making it an especially accessible entry.

Honorable Mention: Defend the Planet

by circlering
Play Defend the Planet on itch.io

Defend the Planet takes the theme in a more abstract direction, wrapping meteors in energy and building a defense loop around shields, satellites, missiles, and resource management. It is an inventive concept with a fun arcade feel and a nice sense of escalating pressure.

Thank You!

Thank you again to everyone who participated in Xogot Jam 3. The theme Wrapped led to a fun range of interpretations, from mummies and gifts to multitouch party play and inventive puzzle mechanics. We love seeing what people build with Xogot, and every jam entry helps show what is possible.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you for making Jam 3 such a creative one. We'll see you back here this summer for Xogot Jam 4.
