Xogot Is Moving to Godot 4.7

Godot 4.7 brings new 3D lighting, runtime texture drawing, built-in virtual joysticks, more flexible UI animation, and better controller support to projects built in Xogot.

With the release of Godot 4.7.1, we’re ready to begin bringing Godot 4.7 to Xogot users. Builds based on Godot 4.7 are now available through the XogotBeta TestFlight, where we’re validating the update with existing Xogot projects before moving it toward the App Store. To try it out today, join the XogotBeta TestFlight.

What’s New in Xogot with Godot 4.7

Godot 4.7 includes several significant improvements for mobile input, game interfaces, 2D development, and rendering:

  • Offset transforms for Control nodes let you translate, rotate, and scale interface elements without disrupting the layout managed by their parent container. This makes it much easier to create animated menus, button feedback, transitions, and other expressive interfaces. (Godot Engine documentation)

  • DrawableTexture2D provides a more accessible way to update and composite textures at runtime. It can be used to build features such as painting, decals, reveal masks, scratch effects, and fog-of-war without working directly with lower-level rendering APIs. (Godot Engine documentation)

  • AreaLight3D node adds rectangular real-time light sources for objects such as screens, illuminated signs, windows, and overhead light panels. Area lights can produce more natural illumination and reflections than point-based light sources, with capabilities varying by renderer. (Godot Engine documentation)
  • Additional engine improvements include SDL3-based controller support on iOS, configurable one-way collision directions for 2D games, nearest-neighbor scaling for low-resolution 3D rendering, conic gradients, improved clearcoat materials, more control over 3D particle scale and rotation, and the ability for tweens to wait for signals.

And that is only a selection of the changes included in this release. The official Godot 4.7 release notes cover the complete set of improvements across rendering, input, animation, scripting, platforms, and more.

Test Your Projects with Godot 4.7

Godot 4.7 builds are now available through XogotBeta, our TestFlight channel for engine upgrades and other significant changes that need additional validation before moving to the main Xogot TestFlight. To try out Godot 4.7-based Xogot today, join the XogotBeta TestFlight.

Godot describes the upgrade from 4.6 to 4.7 as relatively safe for most games and apps, but the release includes some breaking changes, behavior changes, and changed defaults. Before opening an important project in Godot 4.7, review the official migration guide, make a backup, and commit your current work if you use Git or another version-control system.

From XogotBeta to the App Store

After the Godot 4.7 builds complete initial testing in XogotBeta, we will begin shipping builds in the main Xogot TestFlight for broader validation. The next major App Store update will then move Xogot from Godot 4.6.x to Godot 4.7.x.

Testing your projects ahead of that transition can help identify compatibility issues before the update reaches all Xogot users.

Need to Stay on Godot 4.6?

We expect most users to move forward with Godot 4.7, but some projects or teams may need additional time before upgrading.

If your project has a significant dependency on Godot 4.6, preserve a 4.6-compatible project copy and avoid installing the Godot 4.7-based Xogot update on the device you use for that work until you have completed your migration testing.

Please contact us if you have a significant compatibility requirement. Understanding which projects need longer migration windows helps us plan future engine transitions more effectively.

Help Us Validate the Release

The best way to help is to open an existing Xogot project in the Godot 4.7-based build, test the parts of the project you depend on, and let us know if anything behaves differently than expected.

You can get started today through XogotBeta, or watch for 4.7-based builds to appear soon in the main Xogot TestFlight.

Thank you to everyone helping us test this update. Your feedback helps us bring newer versions of Godot to iPad and iPhone with greater confidence.
